Marqeta is on a mission to change the way money moves, and they are seeking a Senior Manager for Software Engineering to lead their Credit onboarding team. This role involves scaling innovative credit onboarding platforms and working closely with various teams to ensure the delivery of resilient and secure systems.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end Credit onboarding platform responsible for new credit customers onboarding
- Drive platform resiliency, scalability, and operational excellence
- Drive AI-first automation, reducing manual handling and increasing efficiency across dispute classification, evidence management, and prioritization
- Partner with Product to shape roadmap, sequencing, and delivery strategy
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, improving engineering velocity and system reliability through intelligent workflows and automation
- Establish clear engineering standards around quality, reliability, testing, and documentation
- Improve execution rigor including planning, sprint hygiene, and measurable outcomes
- Lead architectural discussions and make high quality technical decisions
- Stay close to the codebase and system design while empowering teams to execute
- Recruit and develop top engineering talent and actively build bench strength
- Create a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement
Skills
- Experienced engineering leader (8–12+ years in engineering, 4+ years managing senior engineers or managers)
- Experience building and scaling distributed systems in cloud native environments, preferably AWS
- Strong background in microservices architectures and high availability systems
- Proven ability to operate in regulated or compliance sensitive environments
- Demonstrated track record of raising engineering standards and improving execution discipline
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity while driving clarity and momentum
- High personal standards and a bias toward action
- Experience in fintech strongly preferred; credit domain experience is a plus but not required
- Experience building or scaling credit products such as underwriting, ledgering, servicing, or transaction processing
- Experience improving platform resiliency such as multi region architectures
- Track record of evolving teams from good to great
- Masters Degree in Computer Science
