Regional Financial Analyst

Newport News, Virginia Location: Newport News, VA (local candidates) Overview The Regional Financial Analyst serves as the Finance representative for the acute care hospital(s)and the integration of other non-acute services (i.e. physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers, diagnostic and imaging centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health, hospice, etc) for the geographic region. Supports the operating groups, identifying opportunities for process improvements, revenue enhancements, cost containments, and business and market share growth. Works in conjunction with Accounting, Reimbursement, Budget, Cost Accounting, Revenue Integrity, and Decision Support areas. Analyzes data from multiple sources and inputs using Excel, Access, SQL, and other technology to create meaningful information to be used by leadership for informed decision making. What you will do Completes proformas, financial analysis, monthly cash and allowance forecasts, long range planning, and assists with budgeting. Performs monthly analytical assessments of assigned geographical locations and creates progress reports for management. Performs data mining of department data structures to determine themes, uncover trends in financial performance, and identify root cause areas of improvement for the regional governance committees. Remains current with trending topics in Healthcare Finance and Healthcare Reform. Educates leadership and others of impending changes and guides preparatory processes as appropriate. Identifies opportunities for process improvements, revenue enhancements, cost containments and business and market share growth. Reviews information for data integrity. Qualifications Education Bachelors Degree, Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, or Business Administration/Finance (Required) Masters Degree, Business Administration (Preferred) Experience 3-4 years related Healthcare finance experience (Required) Skills and Abilities Aptitude and ability to extract data form information systems using various report writers and software packages In depth knowledge of Microsoft Excel required (VBA preferred) Working knowledge of databases and database software required Ability to work independently, is flexible and has the ability to prioritize workload Strong problems solving, data analysis, and decision making skills Requires professional written and verbal communication skills Licenses and Certifications Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) - Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) (Preferred) To learn more about being a team member with Riverside Health System visit us at https://www.riversideonline.com/careers.
