This isn’t just testing. It’s the safety net. A part-time, sweat-equity partnership for a seasoned QA Automation Engineer who wants to build the “immune system” of a mission-driven global mental-health platform. We’re live in 200+ countries so anyone, anywhere can find the right provider in their language at a price they can afford. If building automated resilience beats manual clicking for you, read on.
We are developing instant Talk Now, an advanced Find Matches system, and an AI-powered booking and translation layer. Your work ensures that as we move fast, we don’t break the things that matter most.
The Opportunity: Architect the Quality Standard
This is a sweat-equity partnership for someone who wants to design a quality pipeline from scratch. You won’t be a passive tester; you will own the automation layer that protects the product at scale. Your standards, guardrails, and test frameworks will directly control what ships. Our founders have scaled companies to $130M+ in revenue. The leverage here is real.
Who You Are
• Mission-driven and committed to reliability
• Automation-first; if you test it manually twice, you believe it should be automated
• Developer at heart; strong with TypeScript/JavaScript and Python
• Pragmatic; you understand the testing pyramid and prioritize speed and stability
• Root-cause oriented; you help diagnose, not just report
• Clear communicator who can explain failing builds without ego or friction
What You’ll Do
• Build automated end-to-end smoke suites for critical flows such as login, scheduling, Stripe payments, messaging, and Talk Now
• Integrate your test suites into GitHub Actions so nothing ships without passing automation
• Perform targeted manual testing only for complex, high-risk areas like video calls, translation, or payment webhooks
• Create the testing standards developers must follow before code reaches you
• Continuously eliminate flaky tests and strengthen reliability
First 90 Days Outcomes
• Author the testing standards checklist
• Deliver the first automated smoke suite
• Integrate automation as a required CI gate in GitHub Actions
• Choose and configure the automation frameworks (Playwright and Pytest)
• Validate reliability across key flows including payments, onboarding, and messaging
• Identify and eliminate the top recurring regressions
Our Product Context
• Stack: Next.js 13, React, TypeScript, GraphQL, Python (Django), PostgreSQL
• Critical flows: Stripe, Twilio Video/SMS, SendGrid, Azure Search
• Tools: Playwright for frontend; Pytest for backend; GitHub Actions
The Deal: Transparent Equity Partnership
• Equity comes from a dedicated 5% founding team pool
• You earn points for automated test suites, frameworks, and reliability improvements—not for hours of manual testing
• Time: 8–15 hrs/week on average, with up to 12–16 hrs/week during the early architecture phase (first 60 days). As automation systems mature and AI-assisted tooling accelerates test development, the long-term commitment naturally trends toward 6–12 hrs/week. Fully async; no minimum hours; no 24/7 on-call.
• Three-year vesting with a 6-month active-contribution cliff
• Compatible with a full-time role, subject to employer IP/conflict rules
• Requires signing our contributor agreement and IP assignment
Why This Role Matters
• Your work becomes the backbone of reliability for a global mental-health platform
• You are not “running tests”—you are architecting the system that keeps people safe
• You’ll partner directly with founders and engineers shaping a mission that will outlive all of us
