Our client is a groundbreaking virtual reality development studio at the forefront of immersive digital experiences, seeking a highly creative and technically proficient Virtual Reality Environment Artist. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute your talents from anywhere. You will be instrumental in crafting visually stunning and deeply engaging virtual worlds for our next-generation VR applications. Your primary responsibility will be the design, modeling, texturing, and optimization of high-quality 3D environments, ensuring they are not only aesthetically compelling but also performant within VR constraints. You will work closely with game designers, narrative designers, and technical artists to translate concepts and art direction into tangible, believable virtual spaces. The ideal candidate possesses a strong portfolio showcasing exceptional environmental art skills, with a specific focus on VR or real-time applications. Expertise in industry-standard 3D modeling and texturing software, such as Maya, 3ds Max, Blender, Substance Painter, and Photoshop, is essential. You should have a solid understanding of PBR workflows, material creation, lighting, and post-processing effects. Experience with game engines like Unity or Unreal Engine is a must, along with a keen eye for composition, color theory, and environmental storytelling. This role demands a proactive, self-motivated individual capable of thriving in a remote, collaborative setting, with excellent communication skills to effectively articulate ideas and provide constructive feedback. Responsibilities: Create high-quality 3D environment assets, including terrains, props, architectural elements, and foliage. Develop and apply realistic or stylized textures and materials using PBR workflows. Optimize assets for performance in real-time VR applications, ensuring high frame rates. Collaborate with the art director and design team to establish and maintain art style and vision. Implement and light environments within game engines (Unity/Unreal Engine). Iterate on environments based on feedback from team members and playtesting. Contribute to the overall visual storytelling and atmosphere of the VR experiences. Troubleshoot technical art issues related to environment creation and integration. Stay updated on the latest trends and technologies in VR and real-time environment art. Maintain a consistent and high standard of artistic quality across all assets. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Digital Art, Game Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Demonstrable experience as an Environment Artist, with a strong portfolio showcasing VR or real-time environment work. Proficiency in 3D modeling software (Maya, 3ds Max, Blender). Expertise in texturing software (Substance Painter, Photoshop, Quixel). Strong understanding of PBR material workflows and real-time rendering. Experience with Unity or Unreal Engine is required. Knowledge of lighting, post-processing, and composition in real-time engines. Excellent artistic eye for detail, form, color, and composition.
