Company Description Seaside Sustainability is a nationally recognized 501(c)3 charitable organization dedicated to environmental conservation and education. Collaborating with schools, communities, and organizations, Seaside Sustainability provides project-based learning, internships, and volunteer opportunities to empower individuals as future environmental leaders. Job Duties and Responsibilities This is a volunteer, unpaid remote role within the Website & Technology department at Seaside Sustainability. The intern will focus on UX/UI design for the organization’s WordPress website, contributing to the creation of an engaging, user-friendly, and visually consistent digital experience. Key responsibilities include • Designing and planning website layouts to improve usability and accessibility • Creating wireframes and prototypes for new and existing web pages • Developing visual design elements aligned with Seaside Sustainability’s branding • Ensuring a consistent and intuitive user experience across all pages • Collaborating with the Website & Technology team to implement design improvements • Assisting in identifying and resolving usability issues • Supporting the creation of design documentation and guidelines About the Department The Website & Technology department is a team of innovators and problem solvers passionate about leveraging technology to support Seaside Sustainability’s mission. The team develops and maintains web pages, troubleshoots technical issues, provides tech support, and explores new tools to enhance organizational impact. Members are curious, collaborative, and dedicated to helping others. Qualifications • Current enrollment in a relevant undergraduate or graduate program (e.g., UX/UI design, graphic design, computer science, or related fields) • Basic understanding of UX/UI principles and design tools (e.g., Figma, Adobe XD, or similar) • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities • Interest in web design and user-centered design practices Duration and Commitment • 5–10 hours per week (flexible schedule) • Total duration: flexible Learning Outcomes • Gain hands-on experience in UX/UI design and web development workflows • Develop skills in wireframing, prototyping, and visual design • Learn how to create user-centered digital experiences • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team in a professional setting • Build a portfolio of real-world design projects “Sustainability, Education, Action” Why Volunteer with Seaside Sustainability: Seaside Sustainability offers a meaningful and hands-on volunteer experience for individuals passionate about environmental stewardship and making a real impact.
