About the Opportunity
We are recruiting on behalf of a well-funded, fast-growing cybersecurity company building next-generation network access technology. This is a hands-on, senior-level engineering role focused on building and scaling core network infrastructure for a platform used by companies of all sizes. If you live in the data plane, love hard networking problems, and want to do some of the most technically interesting work in security infrastructure right now, this role is worth your time.
This is not an adjacent or architectural role. Approximately 80% of your day-to-day work will be active, production-level C/C++ development.
What You'll Do
• Design and implement network infrastructure components for a large-scale, production security platform
• Build and optimize VPN/proxy data plane solutions
• Work at the OS/kernel boundary on Linux networking internals including routing, tunneling, and protocol implementation
• Improve networking performance, throughput, and latency
• Debug and resolve complex, production-level networking issues
• Contribute to security-focused network architecture including mTLS, secure tunneling, and zero-trust design
What We're Looking For
Required:
• Strong, active C/C++ experience — non-negotiable and central to the role
• True network infrastructure or networking protocol engineering background
• Systems programming depth: memory management, concurrency, and low-level OS primitives (sockets, threads, async I/O)
• Hands-on experience in at least one of the following: VPN/proxy data plane development, L4 protocol internals, OS/kernel-level networking, networking performance optimization, or security-focused network architecture
• Ability to debug complex networking issues in production
• Stable career history — 2+ years per role is the norm for this team
Strongly Preferred:
• WireGuard, OpenVPN, or TLS VPN experience
• TUN/TAP driver experience (tuntap, utun, Wintun, virtual network interfaces)
• TCP internals: retransmission, congestion control, flow control
• UDP-based protocols: QUIC, DTLS
• P2P networking and NAT traversal: hole-punching, STUN/TURN, ICE
• DNS proxying or DNS over HTTPS (DoH, DoT, CoreDNS, dnsmasq)
• Linux networking stack: routing tables, tc, qdisc
• Packet capture and diagnostics: tcpdump, Wireshark, traceroute
• Rust and/or Go experience
Compensation & Details
• Base salary: $170,000 – $220,000 depending on experience
• Competitive equity
• Fully remote — United States only
• Full-time, direct hire
• US work authorization required — visa sponsorship is not available
Pay: $170,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
Work Location: Remote
