Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Strategic Mission Critical is a company specializing in mission critical facilities, equipped with a seasoned leadership team. They are seeking a Building Management System Design Engineer responsible for designing and developing BMS and EPMS for high-performance infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop detailed control system design documents, including sequences of operation, network architecture diagrams and points lists
- Create project-related BMS specifications
- Define integration strategies between BMS, PLCs, mechanical and electrical systems, and third-party monitoring platforms
- Specify control panel requirements, I/O requirements, and communication protocols for all equipment
- Collaborate with internal mechanical and electrical engineers to ensure system logic aligns with owner design requirements
- Collaborate with internal and/or external stakeholders to ensure network architecture and cabling requirements are incorporated into overall project requirements
- Develop and maintain company-wide standards for BMS design, details, and documentation templates
- Participate in design coordination meetings and technical workshops with clients, vendors, and commissioning agents
- Assist clients with evaluation and selection of control system integrators
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to validate drawings, sequences, and integration details before issuance
- Conduct site visits to gather existing system information, review construction work in progress, and confirm installed conditions are in compliance with contract document requirements
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in building automation or HVAC controls design, preferably within consulting or mission critical environments
- Strong understanding of HVAC system operation and control logic
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering. Candidates with significant relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of one of these degrees
- Knowledge of control communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and TCP/IP
- Knowledge of PLC and DDC based BMS systems
- Experience with Division 23, 25 and 26 specifications
- Knowledge of electrical power systems including distribution equipment, generators, UPS, and similar equipment in the context of monitoring and integration is a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly describe complex control sequences
- Experience solely in the context of manufacturing or process automation is not preferred
