Job Summary
The Director, Business Development, is an individual contributor responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding client relationships, and developing strategic partnerships within the financial services industry. This role requires a highly experienced professional who leads through influenced business development efforts end-to-end while collaborating cross-functionally to shape strategy, solutions, and market approach.
Key Responsibilities:
Own and execute a comprehensive business development strategy aligned with company growth objectives. This person would be focused on the larger end of our market – banks with $5B+ AUM, ideally $10B+.
Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities within financial institutions, fintechs, and related sectors
Build and maintain senior-level relationships with key decision-makers, acting as a trusted advisor
Lead the full sales lifecycle, including prospecting, solutioning, proposal development, and contract negotiation
Drive strategic conversations with clients, translating business needs into tailored solutions
Partner closely with internal teams (consulting, product, marketing) to develop and deliver high-impact client engagements
Influence go-to-market strategy, service offerings, and client solutions through market insight and client feedback
Establish and cultivate strategic alliances and partnerships to expand market presence
Representing the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking engagements
Track and manage pipeline activity, revenue forecasts, and performance metrics
Qualifications
Required Skills & Qualifications
Industry & Functional Expertise:
Deep knowledge of financial services, including banking, capital markets, and/or fintechs
Experience in consulting, professional services, or complex solution-based sales environments
Strong understanding of industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory considerations
Business Development & Ownership:
Proven track record of independently driving revenue growth and closing complex deals
Experience building relationships and originating opportunities through networking, partnerships, and industry presence
Ability to operate autonomously while aligning with broader organizational strategy
Relationship Management & Influence:
Established network of senior-level contacts within financial services
Strong executive presence with the ability to influence stakeholders without direct authority
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills
Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership:
Ability to lead through influence across product, marketing, and delivery teams
Skilled at shaping solutions and aligning internal stakeholders around client needs, and collaborating closely with senior consulting leaders to shape and close opportunities
Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
Technical & Analytical Foundation:
Familiarity with technology, digital transformation, or enterprise systems within financial services
Ability to engage in consultative, solution-oriented discussions with both business and technical stakeholders
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Technology, or related field
15+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or consulting within financial services (This individual would be focused on the larger end of our market, banks with $5B+ AUM, ideally $10B+ AUM)
Experience working in roles that require high autonomy and executive-level client engagement
