The Vicos then act like real companies (e. g. consultancies or system integrators), competing successfully for large enterprise projects.
Already, 100+ Vicos with thousands of freelancers work on projects for enterprise clients like BASF, Miele, Siemens or Zeiss and many SMEs. Our SAP-certified platform provides the full digital infrastructure for forming and operating Vicos: marketing, finance, legal, organization – increasingly enhanced by AI agents as productive Vico members.

As Business Development Director you combine three capabilities:
- strategic consulting which helps clients buy the right professional services product in the right way – that is how selling works for our product
- understanding AI’s role in service delivery
- entrepreneurial drive in building a hyper-scaling business: this is about continuously driving the perfection of our product, go-to-market, processes and tools
You challenge how your clients source, deliver and scale professional services – and you show to them why the Vico model is structurally superior (when this is the case, which it most often is). You operate as a trusted advisor at C-level, translating Vicoland’s platform and AI capabilities into client-specific value scenarios.
You join our leadership team with end-to-end accountability: from market shaping and first pitch to delivery oversight and long-term account growth. You supervise the Vicos serving your clients – acting as an entrepreneur leading entrepreneurs.
Tasks
Shape the market
- Position Vicoland with enterprise clients as the strategic alternative to traditional professional services models.
- Question established sourcing models and demonstrate why Vicos deliver better outcomes.
- Plan and implement mixed human / AI offers by Vicos.
- Develop go-to-market strategies tailored to specific client contexts.
- Build thought leadership through events and LinkedIn presence.
Win and grow clients
- Develop and own a portfolio of enterprise clients and partners – from strategic outreach through close to long-term expansion.
- Conduct consultative, insight-driven conversations at C-level. Translate the Vico model into concrete ROI scenarios for each client.
- Identify cross- and upsell opportunities with a founder’s mindset. Build pipeline strategically, not only transactionally.
Lead Vicos in delivery
- Supervise and coach Vico Leads in your client group – hold them accountable for delivery quality and commercial performance.
- Activate new Vico Leads and set them up for success. Step in when needed to protect client relationships.
Drive AI into Business Development
- Integrate Vicoland’s AI and agentic capabilities into client conversations – position the Vicoland platform and Vicos as AI-first.
- Use AI tools actively in your own work and contribute to the evolution of AI-powered Vico members.
Shape the company
- Contribute to Vicoland’s strategy as a member of the leadership team.
- Bring market intelligence, client feedback, and competitive insight into the organization.
- Help define how we scale – processes, tools, talent, culture.
Requirements
- 5+ years in professional services – e. g. in consulting, system integration, or in sales roles for complex products.
- Consultative selling capacity: you can win complex enterprise deals by advising, not pitching.
- Challenger mindset: you shape how clients and the market at large think about professional services sourcing and are comfortable challenging senior stakeholders.
- AI-affinity: you actively use AI tools and understand the strategic implications of agentic AI for professional services.
- Entrepreneurial energy – you are drawn to building markets, not administering existing ones. Own entrepreneurial experience is a strong plus.
- Experience leading teams or practices – you have managed people, not just projects.
- Strong academic background, fast career progression, proven commercial impact.
- Fluent in German and English (DACH is our home market, while we expand internationally).
- Network power: you have and build valuable relationships easily.
