We are seeking a skilled WordPress Developer and Web Systems Specialist to be our primary technical contractor. This role is critical to our business operations, requiring expertise in web development, WordPress, PHP, and HTML5. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing and optimizing web systems, ensuring high performance and security. This is a part time position with a long-term engagement.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled WordPress Developer and Web Systems Specialist to serve as our primary technical contractor. This role is critical to our day-to-day client delivery. You will work alongside our project manager and partner relations team to build, maintain, and troubleshoot web systems for a portfolio of faith-based churches and nonprofits.
This is a long-term ongoing engagement. We are not looking for a one-project hire – we want someone who will grow with us and become a trusted technical partner to the team and our clients.
What You’ll Do
WordPress Development & Site Maintenance
Build and maintain WordPress websites for ELC clients across a variety of ministry types
Manage premium plugin and theme installation, updates, and license renewals
Conduct site audits to identify outdated or vulnerable components
Coordinate with hosting providers (Flywheel, and others) for access and environment management
Monitor and resolve security issues using tools like Wordfence
Implement best-practice page structure, URL hierarchy, and site organization
Gravity Forms Specialist
Build advanced registration, verification, payment, and workflow forms using Gravity Forms
Configure Gravity Forms add-ons: Gravity Flow, Gravity View, Form Connector, and related plugins
Ensure proper field logic, conditional routing, confirmation messaging, and email notifications
Manage plugin license activations and renewals across client sites
Payment Processing & CRM Integration
Integrate Authorize.net, WooCommerce, or similar payment processors with WordPress forms
Connect form submissions to CRM platforms (NationBuilder, or similar) for data syncing
Test end-to-end transaction flows and troubleshoot data exchange failures
Build recovery or fallback payment forms when primary systems require it
Custom Web Applications
Develop lightweight custom web tools within WordPress (e.g., member verification portals, QR-based credential lookups, searchable directories)
Build Gravity View-powered custom front-end displays and searchable databases
Handle bulk data imports and backend admin configurations for client self-management
Domain, Email & DNS Management
Configure DNS records, DKIM/SPF email authentication, and domain settings
Set up and manage Google Workspace accounts and custom email domains for clients
Manage CloudFlare accounts, resolve domain expiration issues, and troubleshoot email deliverability
Client Communication & Team Collaboration
Communicate clearly and professionally with clients (ministry leaders, pastors, nonprofit directors)
Explain technical issues in plain, non-technical language
Collaborate with our project manager (DeAundra) and partner relations director (Shawn) via email and Podio
Log detailed work notes in Podio tasks and track time accurately in Paymo
Submit monthly invoices with client/task-level detail
Who We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
3+ years of WordPress development experience
Proficiency with Gravity Forms and at least one major add-on (Gravity Flow, Gravity View, Form Connector)
Experience integrating payment processors (Authorize.net preferred) with WordPress
Working knowledge of DNS, DKIM/SPF, Google Workspace, and domain management
Comfortable managing hosting environments (Flywheel, cPanel, or similar)
Ability to troubleshoot live site issues under deadline pressure
Clear, professional written communication – you will interact directly with clients
Strong Bonus Skills
Experience with NationBuilder CRM or similar donor/constituent management platforms
CloudFlare management
Wordfence or other WordPress security tools
Experience with Elementor Pro or WP Bakery
Familiarity with WooCommerce
Podio or similar project management tools
