Volunteer: Form 990 Readiness and Bookkeeping Recommendations

Apply Now
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections. Help our team by providing a tailored set of recommendations for bookkeeping categories, nonprofit financial reporting, and record‑keeping best practices, plus annotated sample scenarios to support your first full tax preparation. This volunteer will review current categories and records, conduct walkthroughs with the bookkeeper, and leave clear, actionable guidance. Stronger bookkeeping and clear reporting will protect funds and free staff time so Trajectory can continue educational events and broker student–industry connections in Oregon’s sustainable forestry and natural resource programs. Volunteer guidance will improve financial stewardship and help the organization scale its career education and community service work. The bookkeeper is engaged and leadership supports this work. The team can meet Wednesdays or Thursdays afternoons (PST) and will provide records, access, and scheduling during interviews. Volunteers will collaborate in regular walkthroughs, review materials, and deliver step‑by‑step guidance the staff can follow to implement recommendations and prepare for Form 990. Trajectory Mission: "Invigorate communities by tying historical identities to modern workforce needs." We do this primarily by brokering relationships between students and industry professionals. We began in Oregon, so currently that means Sustainable Forestry and Natural Resource Management. Our venn diagram would include public education about sustainability, youth trades/career education, and community service. Apply tot his job Apply To this Job
