US-Based Family Medicine Coder (Remote or In-Office)

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced US-Based Family Medicine Coder to join our team. This role offers flexibility to work remotely or in-office, providing vital support in accurate medical coding and billing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough understanding of family medicine documentation, coding standards, and medical record management to ensure precise reimbursement and compliance. Duties • Review and accurately code family medicine patient records using CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) coding systems. • Ensure all medical documentation aligns with coding requirements and billing guidelines. • Collaborate with physicians and administrative staff to clarify documentation discrepancies or ambiguities. • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of coding regulations, including changes in ICD and CPT codes. • Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to document coding activities accurately. • Assist in maintaining organized medical records and ensure compliance with privacy standards. • Support quality assurance initiatives by auditing coded records for accuracy and completeness. Experience • Minimum 3 years of experience in medical coding within a family medicine or primary care setting. • Strong knowledge of CPT coding and ICD-10 coding systems. • Background in medical billing, collections, and office administration preferred. • Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems used in outpatient clinics or medical offices. (EPIC experience a plus, but not required) • Excellent understanding of medical terminology and records management practices. • Prior experience working remotely is advantageous but not required; candidates should be comfortable working independently or in a team environment. • Demonstrated ability to adapt to evolving coding standards and maintain meticulous attention to detail.
