Telecom Systems Support Engineer (Level 2/3)
Linux | AWS | Telecommunications Platforms
Remote
6-Month Contract-to-Hire
$32–$35 per hour
About the Company:
Our client is a well-established and growing technology solutions company that builds and operates enterprise telecommunications infrastructure for some of the nation’s largest service providers.
Known for operational excellence and a strong client-first culture, they deliver mission-critical platforms that power modern communications.
They are currently seeking a Telecom Systems Support Engineer for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity. This role offers flexibility and may be worked onsite in Plainview, NY, or fully remote.
The Opportunity:
This is more than a ticket-queue support role. As a Level 2/3 Telecom Systems Support Engineer, you will serve as a key escalation point for live production systems powering real-world communications infrastructure.
You will troubleshoot complex incidents across operating system, network, application, and database layers — owning issues through full resolution.
If you thrive in high-stakes production environments and enjoy solving problems that truly impact customers, this role deserves a closer look.
What You’ll Do:
Production Support & Incident Resolution
• Investigate and resolve escalated incidents on telecom platforms serving enterprise clients
• Analyze logs and diagnose service failures
• Troubleshoot across OS, network, application, and database layers
• Restore stability in live production environments
• Participate in an on-call rotation
Platform & Systems Operations
• Support legacy platforms during end-of-life transition
• Assist with stabilization and support of next-generation systems
• Perform system health monitoring
• Proactively identify and resolve issues
• Manage workflows and tickets through Jira
Linux & Cloud Infrastructure
• Administer and troubleshoot RHEL/CentOS environments
• Support systems hosted in AWS (GCP acceptable)
• Write and execute Bash or Python scripts for diagnostics and operational tasks
• Maintain and support cloud-hosted telecom workloads
What You Bring:
• 4–7+ years of Linux administration experience in production environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure layers
• Experience supporting live production systems
• Familiarity with AWS or GCP
• Basic scripting skills (Bash or Python)
• Solid networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS)
• Experience working with Jira (preferred)
Bonus / Extra Credit:
While not required, we are especially interested in candidates with exposure to container technologies, including:
• Docker and/or OpenShift
• Experience creating or deploying containers
• Supporting containerized workloads in production or non-production environments
• Familiarity with container registries (e.g., Docker Hub, Amazon ECR, or similar)
If you have worked with containers in any capacity — even supporting deployments or troubleshooting containerized services — we would love to hear about your experience.
