Technical Buyer / Engineered Product Procurement Specialist - NY

Position: Technical Buyer / Engineered Product Procurement Specialist Location: Tonawanda, New York (Buffalo Area, NY) Work Type: On-site Job Type: Full-time Position Overview The Technical Buyer / Engineered Product Procurement Specialist supports the Purchasing Department by managing procurement activities for engineered components and services within a capital equipment manufacturing environment. This role focuses on supplier coordination, cost management, technical compliance, and ensuring project delivery targets are met. Core Responsibilities • Participate in project teams and coordinate communication between suppliers and engineering/design groups • Apply mechanical engineering knowledge to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and industry codes • Manage project cost and delivery targets through supplier coordination and earned value reporting • Obtain quotations, review technical specifications, and issue purchase orders • Maintain manufacturing orders, schedules, and shortage reports to support production timelines • Monitor supplier quality, delivery performance, and lead times • Manage supplier Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), corrective actions, returns, and rework activities • Support supplier negotiations and cost reduction initiatives • Develop purchase contracts, supplier agreements, and qualification processes for new vendors • Identify and implement process improvements and technical solutions for procurement challenges • Meet with suppliers to resolve technical and commercial issues • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and procurement standards Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or minimum 7 years of experience in a related technical field • Minimum 5 years of experience in a capital equipment manufacturing environment • Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications • Familiarity with ASME, PED, and other industry codes and standards • Experience working within ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, MS Project, etc.) • Strong communication and executive presentation skills • Proven negotiation and supplier management experience • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities • Ability to develop creative technical and business solutions Preferred Qualifications • SAP experience preferred • Ability to travel up to 10%, including international travel • Strong problem-solving mindset in procurement and engineering collaboration environments This is a remote position.
