Job Description:
• Lead the coordination, preparation, and review of all company-wide tax filings, including Federal, State, and international corporate income tax returns, Sales & Use Tax, Gross Receipts Tax, Property Tax, USAC, and VAT filings.
• Prepare, review, and file sales & use tax returns for technology services across multiple jurisdictions.
• Act as a tax subject-matter expert for customer tax questions, including billing discrepancies, taxability inquiries, and exemption reviews.
• Partner with Billing, Customer Success, Sales, Finance, and Product teams to ensure accurate tax calculation and issue resolution.
• Support configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SureTax to ensure proper tax determination and billing accuracy.
• Utilize Workday to support tax reporting, account reconciliations, data analysis, and audit support.
• Ensure alignment between tax rules, billing systems, and customer contracts.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all tax audits and inquiries from taxing authorities.
• Manage responses to notices and assessments, ensuring timely and appropriate resolution.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate tax risks while maintaining strong internal controls over tax processes.
• Reconcile sales & use tax accounts and support month-end and year-end close processes.
• Monitor changes in state and local telecom tax regulations and assess operational and customer impact.
• Identify and recommend process and system improvements to enhance compliance, efficiency, and customer experience.
• Manage relationships with external advisors, including Big 4 firms, to support corporate and indirect tax compliance and planning.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 5+ years of experience in sales & use tax
• Hands-on experience with SureTax (required)
• Experience working within Workday for financial reporting, reconciliations, or tax-related analysis
• Strong knowledge of multi-state indirect tax compliance and telecom-specific taxes
• Experience interfacing with customers and resolving tax-related billing questions
• Proven ability to collaborate with Billing, Customer Success, Sales, and IT teams
• Strong attention to detail and ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-tax stakeholders.
