• *About the role:
We are seeking a Spanish Translator to support a federal health information initiative with the National Library of Medicine (NLM). This work supports the development and maintenance of consumer health information resources, including MedlinePlus and other NLM platforms, ensuring that Spanish-speaking audiences have access to accurate, culturally appropriate, and up-to-date health information.
The Spanish Translator will work closely with medical writers, medical librarians, and product teams to translate English-language health content into Spanish while maintaining consistency, clarity, and adherence to federal standards. This role plays a critical part in ensuring equitable access to health information for diverse audiences.

##### Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $58,000 – $70,000. In the spirit of transparency, most offers tend to land near the midpoint of the range. • *Responsibilities:
• Translate English-language health content into culturally appropriate, accurate Spanish for NLM resources, including MedlinePlus and related platforms.
• Translate new and updated content including:
• Health topic summaries
• Medical test monographs
• Research and educational materials
• Ensure translations are culturally sensitive and appropriate for a broad Spanish-speaking audience.
• Follow established NLM, NIH, and HHS style, content, and plain language guidelines.
• Collaborate with medical writers, medical librarians, and other team members to maintain alignment between English and Spanish content.
• Support a cohesive workflow between English and Spanish datasets and content collections.
• Review and update translated content to ensure it remains accurate, current, and consistent with source material.
• Apply quality control processes to ensure translation accuracy and consistency.
• Provide Spanish-language expertise to ensure content remains relevant and appropriate for target audiences.
• Perform additional translation tasks and updates as directed by NLM project leadership.
• Other relevant duties as assigned and qualified/trained to perform.
• *Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree and minimum of 2 years of experience translating written or digital content.
• Professional fluency in Spanish and English (written and verbal).
• Demonstrated ability to produce accurate, culturally appropriate translations for diverse audiences.
• Familiarity with plain language principles and ability to apply them
