Role Overview
The Systems Engineer / Application Support Engineer supports a complex SaaS platform focused on financial risk prevention, including anti‑money laundering (AML) and identity verification workflows. This role is responsible for production support, application deployments, troubleshooting, and system maintenance across hybrid cloud and Windows-based environments. The position requires strong SQL expertise, experience handling sensitive data (PII), and the ability to diagnose and resolve system and application issues in a fast‑moving production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Application Support & Operations
Provide production support for enterprise applications, ensuring stability and uptime
Monitor systems and proactively identify and resolve performance or availability issues
Partner with support teams to triage and resolve incidents impacting client systems
Perform daily operational monitoring and system health checks
Deployment & Release Management
Deploy application updates across staging, pre‑production, UAT, and production environments
Execute post‑deployment validation and testing activities
Maintain and improve deployment processes, standards, and documentation
Troubleshooting & Performance Optimization
Investigate and diagnose application and system issues across application and infrastructure layers
Analyze system performance and recommend improvements
Work closely with cross‑functional teams to support issue resolution and recovery
Data Analysis & SQL Development
Develop and execute complex SQL queries to support troubleshooting and data validation
Analyze data sets to identify inconsistencies and support issue resolution
Work with Microsoft SQL Server and SSMS for data management and diagnostics
Infrastructure & Cloud Support
Support Windows Server environments hosting enterprise applications
Work within hybrid cloud infrastructure environments (primarily AWS, with exposure to Azure)
Assist with automation and job execution through internal scheduler or worker systems
Security & Compliance
Handle sensitive data including Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with security and compliance standards
Apply best practices for data protection, access control, and system security
Ensure adherence to internal and regulatory data handling requirements
Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
Work within Agile/SCRUM environments using tools such as JIRA
Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and support teams
Contribute to process improvements and system optimization initiatives
Required Qualifications
5 or more years of experience in systems engineering, application support, or production support environments
Strong expertise in T‑SQL including complex query development and data analysis
Experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS)
Strong experience supporting Windows Server environments
Experience troubleshooting application and infrastructure issues in production environments
Experience working with Agile/SCRUM methodologies and tools such as JIRA
Experience handling sensitive data, including PII, with an understanding of security and compliance requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in financial services, AML, or risk management platforms
Experience with AWS cloud services and hybrid cloud environments
Exposure to job scheduling or job management systems
Basic programming experience with C# or similar object‑oriented languages
Experience troubleshooting across infrastructure layers beyond application support
