Our client is seeking a highly creative and technically skilled Senior Sound Designer to contribute to the development of cutting-edge AAA video games. This role demands a passion for audio, a deep understanding of game development pipelines, and the ability to craft immersive and compelling sonic experiences. You will be responsible for creating, implementing, and mixing all aspects of a game's audio, from character footsteps and environmental ambiences to epic musical scores and impactful sound effects. The ideal candidate is a master of their craft, capable of working independently and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
Key responsibilities include:
Designing, recording, editing, and mixing high-quality sound effects, dialogue, and music for video games. Implementing audio assets into the game engine using middleware solutions (e.g., Wwise, FMOD). Collaborating closely with game designers, programmers, and artists to integrate audio seamlessly into gameplay. Developing and maintaining audio pipelines and best practices for efficient asset creation and integration. Creating immersive soundscapes and atmospheric ambiences that enhance the player experience. Directing voice actors and overseeing dialogue recording sessions. Mixing game audio to ensure balance, clarity, and impact across various platforms and audio configurations. Troubleshooting audio-related issues and optimizing performance. Staying current with the latest audio technologies, tools, and industry trends. Providing creative direction and mentorship to junior sound designers. Contributing to the overall audio vision and quality of the game.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Game Design, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. A minimum of 6 years of professional sound design experience in the video game industry, with a portfolio showcasing work on at least two AAA titles, is required. Proficiency with digital audio workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro, or Cubase, and deep expertise in audio middleware like Wwise or FMOD, are essential. Strong understanding of game engine audio systems (e.g., Unreal Engine, Unity) is a must. Excellent ear for detail, creativity, and a passion for interactive audio are paramount. The ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced development environment is crucial. This role requires a hybrid presence, splitting time between remote work and in-office collaboration in Nashville, Tennessee, US .
