Senior Software Developer (Full Stack)
Ligonier Ministries is seeking a Senior Software Developer to join our team and help build and maintain the web platforms that serve millions worldwide with trusted biblical teaching. What You’ll Do:
• Develop and maintain Ligonier's external and internal web properties to enhance the user experience.
• Analyze and interpret user needs, gather data to improve functionality, and predict future requirements.
• Implement and maintain SEO and AEO best practices, including structured data, semantic HTML, metadata optimization, and strategies for visibility in AI-driven search experiences.
• Participate in project planning, defining tasks, collecting requirements, researching solutions, and documenting new features and updates.
• Provide technical consultation and advice, guiding management and teams on best practices, systems architecture, and process improvements.
• Ensure system security by implementing encryption, monitoring access, and educating employees on security protocols.
• Maintain source control standards, conduct systematic testing, and proactively monitor applications for performance and security issues.
• Collaborate with third-party developers, defining requirements, managing priorities, and addressing roadblocks in major projects.
• Stay up to date on industry trends, participating in professional development opportunities to ensure Ligonier's digital platforms remain cutting-edge.
What You Bring:
• 5+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in hands-on development roles.
• Expertise in TypeScript, ReactJS/Remix, REST and GraphQL APIs, and GitHub preferred.
• Solid understanding of SEO principles, including technical SEO, Core Web Vitals, structured data, and crawlability, and emerging AEO strategies for optimizing content visibility in AI-powered search and answer engines.
• Familiarity with content distribution systems, including CDNs, CMS platforms, podcast/media feed management, and syndication pipelines preferred.
• Proficiency with Python and Django is a plus but not required.
• Strong understanding of web architecture, databases, and cloud computing platforms.
• Experience working in Agile Scrum environments with a focus on secure coding practices.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Knowledge of data security best practices, including GDPR and PCI compliance, encryption, and secure coding.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and interface with leadership.
• A deep commitment to excellence, stewardship, and biblical truth.
• Affirmation and agreement with Ligonier's General Statement of Faith and Standards of Conduct.
This position is for a non-profit Christian ministry located in Sanford, FL. At this time, we are only able to hire individuals who are authorized to work in the United States.
The pay range for this position is $115,000 - $130,000 annually. Pay ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably believe we would pay for this role at the time of posting. We may ultimately offer more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future. An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, geographic location, and organizational needs.
