About the Role Our client, a dynamic and innovative biotechnology company, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist in Chemical Biology to join their research and development team in Austin, Texas . This role is instrumental in leveraging chemical tools and approaches to interrogate biological systems, understand disease mechanisms, and discover novel therapeutic interventions. You will design and execute chemical biology experiments, develop novel probes, and collaborate with chemists and biologists to drive discovery programs. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in chemistry and biology, extensive hands-on experience with biochemical and cellular assays, and a passion for innovative research. Key Responsibilities Design, synthesize, and validate small molecule probes to study biological targets and pathways. Develop and optimize biochemical and cellular assays to assess the activity and selectivity of chemical compounds. Apply chemical biology techniques to elucidate mechanisms of action and identify potential drug targets. Collaborate with medicinal chemists to guide structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies. Work closely with biologists to integrate chemical biology findings into broader discovery programs. Analyze and interpret complex experimental data, presenting findings clearly to project teams. Manage multiple research projects, ensuring timely execution and delivery of high-quality results. Stay current with the latest advancements in chemical biology, drug discovery, and relevant biological fields. Contribute to the preparation of scientific publications and patent applications. Requirements Ph.D. in Chemical Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field. Minimum of 6 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in chemical biology or a closely related discipline. Extensive hands-on experience with small molecule synthesis, probe development, and chemical biology techniques. Proficiency in designing and executing biochemical assays, cell-based assays, and target engagement studies. Strong understanding of molecular biology, cell biology, and drug discovery processes. Experience with analytical techniques such as LC-MS, NMR, and fluorescence microscopy. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and deliver results independently.
