Our client, a highly respected non-profit organization dedicated to environmental conservation and advocacy, is seeking a talented Senior Grant Writer to join their development team in **Columbus, Ohio, US**. This role operates on a hybrid model, allowing for a blend of remote work and in-office collaboration. The Senior Grant Writer will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, developing compelling grant proposals, and managing relationships with foundations and other funding bodies to secure financial support for the organization's critical initiatives. This position requires exceptional writing skills, a passion for environmental causes, and a proven track record in successful grant acquisition. Key responsibilities include: Researching and identifying potential funding sources, including private foundations, corporate giving programs, and government grants. Developing and writing persuasive and compliant grant proposals, applications, and reports. Crafting compelling narratives that articulate the organization's mission, programs, and impact. Collaborating with program staff and leadership to gather necessary information and data for proposals. Managing the grant submission process, ensuring all deadlines and requirements are met. Cultivating and maintaining strong relationships with foundation program officers and key contacts. Monitoring grant expenditures and ensuring proper stewardship of funds. Tracking grant progress and reporting on outcomes to stakeholders. Staying informed about current trends and best practices in philanthropy and grant writing. Contributing to the overall fundraising strategy and development efforts of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Environmental Science, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in grant writing, preferably within the non-profit sector, is required. Demonstrated success in securing significant grant funding is essential. Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills are mandatory. Strong research and analytical abilities are needed to identify and evaluate funding opportunities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are important for building relationships with funders and internal stakeholders. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with grant databases are required. A deep commitment to environmental issues and a passion for the organization's mission are highly desirable.
