As a Senior Electrical Engineer in Power System Studies, your day-to-day work directly shapes the performance and reliability of large-scale renewable energy projects. You will lead detailed system studies, including short-circuit, arc-flash, load-flow, and harmonic analyses, while designing collection systems, building interconnection models, and producing clear, client-ready reports that drive real project decisions. Working closely with project teams and clients, you will manage multiple active projects, review technical deliverables, mentor junior engineers, and apply advanced modeling software like ETAP as you perform your studies and use tools like Python to streamline analysis and improve outcomes. You will play a central role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that accelerate the clean energy transition.
Duties & Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Technical Execution
Perform and lead highly complex system studies, including protective device coordination and analyses such as short circuit, arc flash, load flow, ampacity, grounding, harmonic, and power quality
Lead the design of collection systems, including cable routing and cable sizing
Create equipment specifications and apply deep knowledge of renewable energy systems, including PV modules, inverters, BESS, transformers, cable management systems, and BOS
Review complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance
Independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices
Independently evaluate, select, and adapt procedures and criteria
Develop new techniques and improved processes, materials, or products
Client & Stakeholder Coordination
Support client interaction across multiple projects and portfolios
Act as the main point of contact for a discipline or project team across portfolios
Create and oversee reports and presentations that communicate studies performed, solutions developed, and value delivered
Prepare proposals for professional engineering services across projects or portfolios
Review and finalize scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
Plan, schedule, and coordinate document preparation and project activities across multiple major projects
Leadership & Team Support
Supervise, train, and mentor assigned staff engineers
Lead all staff necessary to complete assignments
Advise upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist
Collaborate on complex or unconventional problems, including developing new approaches for assignments with conflicting criteria
Oversee projects within a portfolio or suite of projects
Additional Responsibilities
Perform essential duties, including meeting deliverables and deadlines
Perform other tasks as required.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Required
Equivalent of: 1) U.S. Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field, or 2) Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field plus five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience.
EIT Certificate
Technical skills required: Advanced knowledge of Python, ETAP, CDEGS, CYMCAP, PSS/E, and PSLF
Minimum of 2 years of electrical engineering experience with solar PV or energy storage systems, or 5+ years of relevant experience with conventional substation or power generation facilities. Equivalent combinations of renewable and conventional power experience may be considered.
2 years of experience working with different vendor-provided dynamic models
2 years of experience applying Python or similar programming languages for process automation

For candidates in the US, the annual base salary range is USD $133,000–$168,000. For candidates in Canada, the annual base salary range is CAD $179,000–$228,609. Actual compensation will depend on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
