About the position
The Senior Budget Analyst 1/Trainee 1/2 position at the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) is designed to support the agency's mission of protecting vulnerable populations and improving the well-being of children and families. The role involves assisting in the development of the agency's budget, particularly for the Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG), and requires collaboration in a fast-paced team environment. The incumbent will engage in budget monitoring, fiscal analysis, and the implementation of the enacted state budget, while gaining a comprehensive understanding of relevant federal and state regulations.
Responsibilities
• Assist in the development of the OCFS Local Assistance program budget for the Child Care Development Block Grant (CCDBG).
• Review and analyze legislative proposals and implement the Enacted State Budget.
• Perform day-to-day budgeting analyst functions such as reviewing program plans and policy directives.
• Prepare and analyze agency budget requests.
• Monitor revenue and expenditures related to various program accounts.
• Develop account-specific cost projections and spending reports.
• Monitor and manage contracts related to specific program accounts.
• Assist in monitoring capital fund disbursements and maintain spreadsheets.
Requirements
• A bachelor's degree and two years of professional experience in budget estimation, justification, and expenditure control functions for Senior Budgeting Analyst.
• A bachelor's degree and one year of professional experience in budget estimation, justification, and expenditure control functions for Budgeting Analyst Trainee 2.
• A bachelor's degree for Budgeting Analyst Trainee 1.
Nice-to-haves
