Our client, a world-renowned research institution at the forefront of genetic discovery, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Bioinformatics Scientist with expertise in genomics to join their collaborative, fully remote team. This pivotal role will focus on the analysis of large-scale genomic datasets to drive novel scientific insights and support groundbreaking research initiatives. You will work with cutting-edge technologies and computational approaches to unravel complex biological questions. As a remote-first organization, we emphasize strong analytical capabilities, independent problem-solving, and clear, concise communication. You will collaborate closely with molecular biologists, geneticists, and computational biologists to interpret findings and contribute to high-impact publications and discoveries. Responsibilities include developing and applying advanced bioinformatics pipelines, performing statistical analysis, and visualizing complex data. You will also contribute to the design of experimental strategies and the interpretation of results from various high-throughput sequencing technologies. Key duties include: Designing, developing, and optimizing bioinformatics pipelines for large-scale genomic data analysis (e.g., whole-genome sequencing, exome sequencing, RNA-Seq). Performing statistical analysis and interpretation of complex biological datasets. Developing and implementing methods for variant calling, annotation, and association studies. Utilizing advanced programming languages (e.g., Python, R) and bioinformatics tools for data analysis. Visualizing genomic data and presenting findings to diverse scientific audiences. Collaborating with experimental biologists and clinicians to interpret results and design future studies. Staying current with the latest advancements in bioinformatics, genomics, and computational biology. Contributing to the development of novel algorithms and computational methods. Ensuring the quality, integrity, and reproducibility of bioinformatics analyses. Managing and organizing large datasets and computational resources. Contributing to manuscript preparation and scientific publications. Providing mentorship and guidance to junior bioinformaticians and research staff. Assisting in the development of grant proposals and securing research funding. Identifying and evaluating new bioinformatics technologies and software. Participating actively in scientific discussions and collaborations. A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field is required. A minimum of 7 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in bioinformatics, with a strong focus on genomics, is essential. Demonstrated expertise in analyzing large-scale next-generation sequencing (NGS) data is mandatory. Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and R, and experience with common bioinformatics tools and databases are required. Strong statistical and machine learning skills are highly desirable. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities are critical for this remote role.
