Role Overview Job Title: Senior AI Cloud and Security Officer Department: Digital Transformation Department (DTD) Reporting To: Manager – AI & Data Technical Reporting: Team Leader – Infrastructure & Security Location: Global (as per IFRC office locations) Organizational Context The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) is the world’s largest humanitarian network, operating through 191 National Societies. IFRC supports vulnerable populations globally through disaster response, health services, and community resilience programs. The Digital Transformation Department (DTD) leads digital innovation, enabling data-driven and AI-powered transformation across the organization. The AI & Data Unit is responsible for: Data and AI strategy Data governance and platform management AI enablement and lifecycle management Advanced analytics and innovation Role Purpose The Senior AI Cloud and Security Officer is responsible for designing, securing, and managing AI platforms and cloud environments, ensuring compliance with organizational policies, ethical AI standards, and global regulations. This role focuses on AI security, cloud security, and governance, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure secure, scalable, and compliant AI/ML solutions across the organization. Key Responsibilities 1. AI Platform Management Oversee AI platforms across development, testing, and production environments Implement best practices for AI lifecycle management (MLOps) including deployment, monitoring, and retirement Ensure scalability, reliability, and performance of AI systems 2. Security & Compliance Review AI applications for compliance with organizational policies and ethical AI principles Conduct risk assessments and define mitigation strategies for AI/ML systems Contribute to threat modeling and incident response planning for AI risks Ensure adherence to global regulatory requirements 3. Data Governance & Lineage Establish and maintain data lineage tracking for AI models Ensure transparency, traceability, and compliance in data usage Collaborate with data governance, engineering, and compliance teams Enforce secure data governance practices across AI workflows 4. Automation & Integration Design and implement automated workflows using Microsoft Purview DSPM and Azure tools Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, Logic Apps Integrate security controls into AI and data pipelines 5. Cloud Security Management Monitor and optimize Azure security services (Defender for Cloud, Sentinel, Key Vault) Manage identity and access controls for AI workloads (IAM, RBAC) Ensure secure configuration of cloud infrastructure and services Strengthen overall cloud security posture 6. Innovation & Advisory Stay updated on AI security trends, frameworks, and regulations Advise leadership on AI security strategy and risk posture Act as a subject matter expert for AI security across the organization Support teams in understanding best practices and tools Qualifications Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Data Science, or related field Certifications (Preferred) Azure Security Engineer CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or equivalent Cloud security or AI governance certifications Experience 7+ years of experience in AI/ML development and deployment 5+ years of experience in cloud security and data governance Proven experience implementing AI security frameworks and compliance standards Strong experience with MLOps and AI lifecycle management Experience with Generative AI, LLMs, and prompt engineering Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Microsoft Purview Experience working in global or enterprise environments (preferred) Technical Skills Microsoft Azure (Defender, Sentinel, Key Vault, IAM) Microsoft Purview (DSPM, data governance, lineage) AI/ML platforms and MLOps frameworks Cloud security architecture and best practices Automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Azure CLI, Logic Apps) Data security, encryption, and privacy controls Identity and access management (IAM, RBAC) Threat modeling and vulnerability management Core Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management Attention to detail and security-focused mindset Continuous learning and adaptability in evolving AI landscape Strategic thinking and advisory capability Languages Fluent English (mandatory) Additional language (French, Spanish, or Arabic) – preferred Competencies Framework Values: Integrity Professionalism Accountability Respect for diversity Core Competencies: Communication Collaboration & teamwork Decision-making and judgment Creativity and innovation Building trust Functional Competencies: Strategic orientation Leadership and influence Building partnerships Empowering teams
