Job Summary
The ideal candidate is a seasoned Scrum Master with strong project management experience and a proven ability to lead and develop other Scrum Masters. This individual will serve as the senior Agile delivery leader across user journey-aligned product pods - facilitating Agile practices within their own pod while also managing, mentoring, and holding accountable a team of Scrum Masters embedded across the portfolio.
A deep understanding of Scrum and SAFe frameworks is essential, as is the ability to coach high-performing teams, drive cross-functional alignment, and operate with a high degree of autonomy — bringing solutions, not just status updates.
Responsibilities
Scrum Master Team Leadership
Lead, manage, and be directly accountable for a team of Scrum Masters across multiple product pods — setting expectations, providing regular coaching, and ensuring consistent delivery practices portfolio-wide
Conduct regular 1:1s, performance check-ins, and development conversations with each Scrum Master; own performance management including goal-setting, feedback, and growth planning
Establish and maintain standards for Scrum ceremony facilitation, Jira hygiene, capacity reporting, and stakeholder communication across all pods — ensuring consistency without micromanaging
Serve as the escalation point when Scrum Masters encounter impediments they cannot resolve within their pod; triage and drive resolution or escalate to leadership as needed
Create visibility for senior leadership into SM team health, delivery risks, and continuous improvement efforts across the pod structure
Pod-Level Delivery
Facilitate all core Scrum ceremonies (daily standups, sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement) with consistency and intentionality
Coach teams and Scrum Masters on Agile and SAFe principles, continuously improving delivery practices and team accountability
Partner closely with Product Owners to ensure backlog items are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for execution
Proactively identify and escalate risks and roadblocks before they impact delivery — owning resolution rather than waiting for direction
Track and surface pod-level and portfolio-level progress, risks, and impediments to stakeholders and leadership with transparency and regularity
Planning & Operations
Support PI Planning participation, including capacity input, dependency identification, and commitment tracking
Maintain accurate capacity data and flag resourcing constraints early to enable proactive planning decisions
Create and maintain project plans, sprint-level timelines, and status documentation in Confluence
Collaborate with team on Jira hygiene within your pod(s) — ensuring tickets are appropriately structured, updated, and reflective of actual work in flight
Cross-Functional Coordination
Manage complex cross-pod and cross-functional dependencies (particularly those where Core Framework work is a blocker or enabler for other product pods), ensuring nothing falls through the cracks
Step into an active delivery environment quickly, establishing trust and cadence with an established team
Ensure cross-pod and cross-functional alignment, particularly where dependencies touch Finance, Engineering, or Portfolio Operations
Core Competencies
Strong command of Scrum frameworks, SAFe delivery practices, and PI Planning processes
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and hold accountable a team of individual contributors — particularly Scrum Masters or Agile practitioners - with a coaching-forward but standards-driven approach
Experience navigating performance conversations with directness and empathy
Ability to manage multiple priorities across fast-moving, parallel workstreams
Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution, and team-building skills
Clear, confident communication across technical and non-technical audiences - including executive stakeholders
Proactive, accountable, and collaborative work style with a bias toward action and transparency
Demonstrated self-starter who drives clarity and momentum without waiting to be directed; operates with a high degree of ownership and initiative
Comfortable operating in foundational/platform delivery contexts where work is highly interdependent and visibility across the broader portfolio is essential
Proficiency in Jira and Confluence; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook
Qualifications
5–7+ years of experience in a Scrum Master role, with at least 2 years in a management capacity overseeing other Scrum Masters or Agile delivery staff, preferably within a product-led or technology organization
CSM certification required; A-CSM or SAFe certification strongly preferred
PMP or equivalent project management background preferred
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience
Prior experience with technology or SaaS companies
Supervisory Responsibility
Directly manages and develops a team of Scrum Masters across multiple product pods. Responsible for performance management, coaching, goal setting, and ensuring consistent Agile delivery practices across the portfolio.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This is largely a sedentary role; however, building access is limited to two sets of stairs and may require lifting or moving objects up to 30 lbs. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
