Lockheed Martin is a leader in aerospace and defense, and they are seeking a Senior Billing Accountant to lead and support a team of billing analysts. The role involves ensuring accurate billing, reconciling accounts, and implementing process improvements while maintaining financial controls.
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive responsible billers to achieve accurate and timely internal and external customer billing
- Reconcile various accounts and invoice discrepancies as required
- Independently analyze and coordinate team efforts to proactively identify billing opportunities
- Lead and implement process improvements for 1LMX billing related procedures
- Maintain and update billing policies and procedures for the responsible team, department and organization
- Work in collaboration with collection and cash application groups to resolve and prevent any issues related to cash activities
- Understand organizational objectives/goals/mission; facilitate team understanding, and communicate concerns to management
- Provide technical oversight while independently resolving issues and re-prioritize/re-align team tasks to meet deliverables
- Maintain required financial controls; support audits as necessary
- Support and meet tight deadlines on a continuous basis while staying focused on internal (billing team) and external (Business area/site, FAR, etc.) policies and procedures
- Additional special projects will be assigned as needed to support the organization
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience
- Demonstrated senior level Accounting experience and skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills evidenced through work experience
- Effective communication skills (verbal and written) evidenced through work experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications primarily MS Excel
- Experience using SAP systems
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities
- Demonstrated experience with billing processes
- Knowledge of Billing & Collections Policies & Procedures
- Knowledge of government FAR regulations
- Demonstrated leadership skills; experience leading teams either formally or informally
- Self-starter with aptitude for various systems & processes

- Work Schedule Information: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
- Full-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work remotely full time at a location other than a Lockheed Martin designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a Lockheed Martin office for periodic meetings.
