Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Cerebro is a well-funded AI consumer startup building a next-generation social platform. They are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to take ownership of recommendation systems that influence user interactions and engagement.
Responsibilities
- You'll take ownership of the platform's recommendation and ranking stack, designing the systems responsible for deciding:
- Which content users see
- What keeps users engaged
- How creators reach the right audiences
- How new content gains traction
- How relevance improves as the platform scales
- You'll work across the full recommendation lifecycle—from retrieval and ranking through to experimentation, online serving and production deployment
- Large-scale recommendation and ranking systems for consumer products
- Retrieval pipelines using embeddings and candidate generation
- Two-tower and deep ranking models
- User, creator and content embeddings built from behavioural signals
- Personalised content discovery and feed optimisation
- Search and recommendation experiments that directly improve engagement and retention
- Production ML infrastructure capable of serving recommendations with low latency and high reliability
- This is a highly product-focused engineering role where you'll own problems end-to-end rather than simply building models
Skills
- 5+ years of commercial Machine Learning experience
- Proven experience building recommendation, ranking, feed or search systems in production
- Background working on large-scale consumer products with millions of users
- Strong experience with:
- Recommendation Engines
- Feed Ranking
- Search & Discovery
- Candidate Generation
- Embedding Retrieval
- Two-Tower Architectures
- Learning-to-Rank
- Online Experimentation / A-B Testing
- Excellent software engineering fundamentals with experience deploying ML models into production
- Comfortable working across modelling, backend systems, experimentation and data pipelines
- Experience improving engagement, retention and content relevance through machine learning
- Fluency in both Mandarin and English is essential for this position
- Strong verbal and written Mandarin communication is a mandatory requirement
