Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Infinite Computer Solutions is seeking a Senior HIM Consultant specializing in Cerner & 3M Coding Systems. The role involves leading engagements across large health systems, focusing on the build, configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting of health-information management systems to ensure accurate coding and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery and current state assessment of HIM operations: inpatient/outpatient coding, abstracting, chart documentation workflows, compliance (ICD-10, CPT, CMS/MS‐DRG/HCC), release of information (ROI) processes, and revenue cycle interfaces
- Configure and optimize Cerner HIM module (Millennium HIM applications) and the 3M Coding & Reimbursement system (encoder system, dashboard/reporting, abstracting workflows)
- Define and translate clinical documentation/coding requirements into system build: code search logic, encoder rules, DRG logic, grouping logic, error workflows, alerting, audit trails
- Integrate HIM/coding systems with EHR modules (Cerner PowerChart, Orders, ED), billing systems, compliance modules, and reporting/analytics platforms
- Lead troubleshooting of complex issues: inconsistent DRG assignments, encoder errors, system configuration mismatches, interface failures between EHR and 3M system, data migration issues
- Support system upgrades, module roll‐outs, environment refreshes, regression testing of HIM/coding logic
- Develop and execute test scripts: unit, integration, user acceptance, parallel coding audits; validate accuracy and compliance of coding workflows post-go‐live
- Document configuration details: encoder rule sets, build specifications, chart documentation workflows, system audit logs, best practice playbooks
- Act as lead consultant to client: manage HIM/coding stakeholder engagements, set expectations, deliver on project milestones, and execute change management for HIM workflows
Skills
- Minimum 5+ years hands‐on experience in HIM systems build/configuration/troubleshooting for enterprise health systems; including direct experience with 3M Coding & Reimbursement (or equivalent 3M encoder systems)
- Demonstrated experience with Cerner Millennium HIM modules, coding interfaces, encoder systems, and revenue cycle integration
- Strong functional knowledge of coding and reimbursement workflows: ICD‐10‐CM/PCS, CPT/HCPCS, DRG logic, HCC, documentation/coding compliance
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills; able to dive into encoder logic, audit logs, system integration, interface flows
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to present to HIM leadership, coding directors, revenue cycle teams, IT build teams
- Consulting mindset: multi‐site engagements, travel acceptance, client‐facing, deliver results under timeline and budget
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management, Health Informatics, Information Systems, or related discipline
- Minimum of 5–7 years in HIM/coding systems build/troubleshooting roles in large health system or consulting environment
- HIM credential (e.g., RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCDS)
- Formal training or certification in 3M coding systems and/or Cerner HIM modules
- Experience with data analytics/reporting for coding & revenue cycle (KPIs, dashboards, productivity, accuracy)
- Experience leading small teams or mentoring HIM/coding analysts
