Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Planet DDS is a fast-growing provider of dental practice management solutions dedicated to transforming dental software with modern, AI-powered technology. The Senior Automation Engineer will design and own production-grade workflows, working closely with data engineers and business stakeholders to improve internal workflows and deliver measurable ROI.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and scale production-grade agentic workflows on Snowflake gold data using Cortex Agents and Claude (Cowork, Code, Skills, MCP), integrating with internal systems through MCP and reusable tools
- Implement multi-agent patterns (planner/worker, delegate/reviewer) with deterministic and human-in-the-loop controls for high-risk writes back to source systems
- Own the AI execution layer end-to-end: prompt and skill architecture, orchestration, evaluation, observability, cost attribution, logging, and reusable tool creation including MCP
- Treat context engineering as a first-class discipline. Assembling the right semantic context, data definitions, examples, and tool descriptions for each agent is the single highest-leverage activity in this role, and the most common difference between agents that work and agents that hallucinate. It matters more than model choice or fine-tuning
- Configure and extend MCP connectivity as needed — primarily through the Snowflake MCP, with ancillary MCPs and orchestration tools (Azure Logic Apps, Power Automate, Snowflake Tasks) used where they are the right fit. Pick the right tool per job rather than forcing everything through one
- Instrument workflows with tracing, cost and performance dashboards, evaluation harnesses (automated and human), and drift monitoring
- Establish governance: prompt and skill versioning, action audit trails, and human-in-the-loop approval gates for high-risk writes
- Drive solutions from concept to production with documented ROI, without heavy process or handoffs
Skills
- 5-7 years of experience in software engineering or applied AI
- 2+ years building production deployments of agentic AI systems (tool-using LLMs or multi-agent workflows) with measurable business outcomes
- Demonstrated experience productionizing LLM-based systems, including structured evaluation and observability
- Proficiency in Python and building API-first services with CI/CD
- Hands-on experience with prompt engineering, context engineering, evaluation, and optimization
- Proven ability to integrate Anthropic Claude (Cowork, Code, Skills, MCP) or similar production LLM platforms into orchestrated workflows
- Experience designing and orchestrating multi-step, event-driven workflows using modern cloud-native services
- Comfortable in the Microsoft enterprise environment and/or enterprise orchestration tools outside of the Microsoft environment
- Demonstrated ability to implement guardrails, output validation, and human-in-the-loop patterns in production
- Familiarity with AI cost attribution and ROI optimization strategies
- Genuine intellectual curiosity and comfort with ambiguity
- Hands-on experience with Snowflake Cortex (Cortex Agents, Cortex Analyst, Cortex Search) strongly preferred
- Candidates with equivalent AI feature sets in another cloud ecosystem will be considered but Snowflake experience is a meaningful advantage
