Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. SmithRx is a rapidly growing, venture-backed Health-Tech company dedicated to transforming the Pharmacy Benefit Management sector. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to contribute to the accounting close process, financial reporting, and technical accounting research, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial statements while supporting key business operations.
Responsibilities
- Own key areas of the month-end close process, including preparing complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses
- Assist in developing guidance on the accounting implications of new transactions and ensure compliance with US GAAP
- Assist in developing and designing our internal controls to improve the accuracy of our financial records and scale our processes
- Assist in the preparation of technical accounting memorandums and support drafting of footnotes and schedules for our financial statements
- Coordinate internal and external audit activities, serving as a key point of contact for auditors and managing the flow of information for selected accounting areas
- Drive process improvements by identifying opportunities to automate and streamline accounting workflows
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably with a background in public accounting or a combination of public and industry experience
- Strong knowledge and practical application of US GAAP, including experience with complex accounting topics
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with a proven ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Ability to work proactively and independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- A collaborative mindset with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to quickly learn new accounting systems like Sage Intacct
- CPA certification is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI tools to improve business processes, automate routine tasks, or enhance the quality and efficiency of financial analysis
