The Revenue Recognition Accountant will manage revenue accounting matters, ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP, and work collaboratively with various teams to support financial reporting and revenue recognition processes.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and analyze revenue accounting entries for month-end close, ensuring deferred revenue waterfalls are accurately maintained
- Own the ASC 606 revenue recognition in NetSuite (ARM module) monthly
- Perform detailed reviews/analysis of Master Agreements and Contracts to ensure that revenue is properly recorded, and documentation is in compliance with policy
- Ensure the accurate application of GAAP to complex revenue transactions
- Review Order Perfection for data accuracy and revenue recognition impact in Salesforce
- Perform & maintain SSP analysis on an annual basis
- Support the coordination of annual audit activities of external auditors, as needed
- Participate in the continuous improvement of revenue recognition processes and systems
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience
- 1-3 years of direct experience with ASC 606 revenue recognition, and/or 3-5 years of progressive general accounting experience with a strong understanding of revenue principles
- Proven experience with ASC 606 system implementations (e.g., NetSuite ARM module or similar), and/or Big 4 audit experience with a CPA license
- Strong understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP Accounting)
- Excellent communication skills with ability to develop the 'story' and form recommendations
- Superb attention to detail balanced by ability to focus on the 'big picture.'
- Proficient in Excel / Google Sheets and Word / Google Docs related skills
- Excellent research and analytical skills
- Experience and interest to build out systems and processes in a rapidly growing business
