The National Field Sales Director will be responsible for leading field execution, team performance, and driving revenue growth across multiple markets nationwide, while also coaching and developing sales teams to ensure consistent execution of the company's sales strategy.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of Field Sales Representatives and Team Leads across an assigned territory
- Drive new account acquisition, distribution growth, retail execution, and reorder performance
- Conduct regular ride-alongs, field coaching, store audits, and performance reviews to improve team productivity
- Hold team members accountable to key metrics including new doors, account retention, sales activity, CRM compliance, and revenue growth
- Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and development of field sales talent
- Monitor territory performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement action plans to drive results
- Ensure consistent execution of sales processes, merchandising standards, and company policies
- Maintain accurate CRM activity, pipeline visibility, and territory reporting
- Partner with Sales Operations, Marketing, and Leadership to support market launches, promotional initiatives, and growth strategies
- Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, ownership, coaching, and results
Skills
- 5+ years of experience in field sales, territory sales, retail sales, DSD, sales operations, or route-to-market sales leadership
- 2+ years managing field reps, territory sales reps, team leads, route reps, brand ambassadors, or similar frontline sales teams
- Proven success driving new account growth, reorder activity, territory expansion, and retail execution
- Strong understanding of field sales management, rep coaching, territory execution, and account follow-up
- Comfortable using CRM tools, dashboards, spreadsheets, and sales reports to manage performance
- Able to inspect activity, diagnose performance gaps, and hold teams accountable
- Clear communicator who can work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and leadership
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-accountability growth environment
- Willing and able to travel 50 to 75% for market visits, field coaching, team launches, and retail execution
- Experience in CPG, beverage, convenience, smoke shop, supplement, wellness, cannabis-adjacent, or other retail-driven categories preferred
