The Mortgage Consultant is responsible for originating various types of loans, servicing existing customers, and managing the loan process from application to closing.
Responsibilities
- Originate purchase and refinance loans by responding to company-provided leads via phone in a timely manner from: internet, direct mail campaigns, referrals, or other special marketing campaigns
- Engage with consumers, determine their needs, and offer the appropriate products
- Manage a loan pipeline from application to closing, collaborating with underwriting, processing, and other teams to ensure timely and accurate loan approvals
- Obtain all necessary information to close the loan in a timely manner, including but not limited to credit reports, income verification, appraisals etc
- Ensure adherence to federal and state lending regulations, including the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and Fair Lending standards, maintaining accurate and compliant documentation
- Provide superior customer service
- Meet individual monthly sales goals
- Stay informed of developing trends in the mortgage industry
- Maintain compliance with the Newrez Code of Conduct
- Performs related duties as assigned by management
Skills
- Origination experience in the mortgage or banking industry required
- 2+ years' origination experience
- Active NMLS license
- A solid understanding of appraisals, title reports and product guidelines
- Must maintain mortgage licenses by completing mandatory annual continuing education
- Ability to connect with borrowers, friendly demeanor, customer service oriented
- Proficiency with loan origination system (H2O), CRM platform (Salesforce), and communication tools (Microsoft Outlook, Teams), with the ability to adapt to new digital tools
- Ability to maintain high levels of communication and urgency, including returning all voicemails within 24 hours
- Ability to work efficiently and accurately with proven success in a fast-paced environment
- Must be detail-oriented and demonstrate careful decision-making skills
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Professional communication skills
- Must pass a background check for state licensing
- Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Inside sales experience preferred
- Experience utilizing persuasive communication skills
