Kopius is a technology company specializing in digital strategy, design, and engineering, and they are seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join their team. This role involves contributing to the development of a geospatial content production workflow platform by building scalable backend services and supporting workflow orchestration.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain backend services and APIs using Go, Python, and JavaScript following established technical patterns
- Support existing measurement pipelines by implementing bug fixes, minor enhancements, and performance improvements
- Contribute to workflow orchestration and processing features under the guidance of the Tech Lead and senior engineers
- Write well-tested code with strong unit and integration test coverage
- Debug and resolve issues within assigned services and platform components
- Participate in architectural and design discussions to better understand system context and contribute ideas
- Follow established coding standards, design patterns, and engineering best practices
- Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback into implementations
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives
- Communicate progress, blockers, and technical questions clearly with the Tech Lead
- Collaborate with Product, QA, and CloudOps teams to deliver assigned work

- 2+ years of professional software development experience
- Experience with one or more of Go, Python, and JavaScript, with the ability to work across backend services and APIs
- Experience contributing to backend systems or APIs in a production environment
- Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or similar tools
- Familiarity with workflow-driven systems or cloud-based application development
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and cloud-based deployment workflows
- Solid debugging and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in Agile development environments
- Ability to work effectively within established technical direction while proactively seeking guidance when needed
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
- Experience contributing to distributed systems, workflow orchestration, or job processing systems is a plus
- Exposure to high-throughput or high-concurrency service architectures is a plus
- Experience with Go or Python in production systems is a plus
- Experience utilizing modern AI-assisted and agentic coding tools and methodologies is a plus
- Experience collaborating across global engineering teams is a plus
