Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. ITA International is a tech-enabled professional services company headquartered in Newport News, Virginia. They are seeking a Journeyman UI/UX Designer to support the design and development of user-centered digital solutions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to enhance usability and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in gathering and analyzing user requirements, workflows, and business processes to understand user needs and mission objectives
- Support the development of user personas, journey maps, and user stories to inform design decisions
- Participate in user research activities, stakeholder interviews, and usability testing sessions
- Create wireframes, mockups, prototypes, and screen designs for web-based and mobile applications
- Develop user interface components that are consistent with established design standards and branding guidelines
- Assist in creating visual designs that improve usability, accessibility, and user engagement
- Collaborate with software engineers, data analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to refine requirements and ensure designs are technically feasible
- Support agile development teams by translating user needs into clear design artifacts and documentation
- Participate in design reviews, sprint planning sessions, and project meetings
- Assist in evaluating applications for usability and accessibility compliance, including Section 508 requirements where applicable
- Conduct basic usability testing and document findings and recommendations
- Support continuous improvement efforts by incorporating user feedback into design updates
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Communications, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 3–10 years of experience in UI/UX design, digital design, web design, or a related field
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar platforms
- Basic understanding of user-centered design principles and usability best practices
- Strong visual design, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
- Experience creating wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, including Section 508 and WCAG
- Exposure to data visualization, dashboard design, or business intelligence applications
- Experience supporting government, defense, or public sector customers
- Active Secret clearance or experience supporting the United States Government
