Citrus Oncology is seeking a motivated Healthcare AI Summer Intern to join their mission-driven virtual platform focused on Cancer Supportive Care. The intern will work closely with engineering and clinical teams to support the development and optimization of AI solutions for cancer supportive care, gaining hands-on experience in healthcare AI.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and testing healthcare-specific AI models and applications
- Support research initiatives on AI approaches for clinical workflows
- Help with data preprocessing, model evaluation, and performance analysis
- Contribute to prompt engineering and fine-tuning efforts for healthcare use cases
- Assist in documenting AI model performance and clinical feedback integration
- Support compliance research for healthcare AI standards (HIPAA, FDA guidelines)
- Collaborate with clinical stakeholders to understand user needs and requirements
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to technical discussions
Skills
- Currently pursuing a degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in Computer Science, AI, Machine Learning, Data Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related field
- Expected graduation date of December 2026 or later
- Academic coursework or projects involving machine learning, natural language processing, or data science
- Basic understanding of machine learning concepts and modern AI architectures
- Familiarity with Python programming and common ML libraries
- Interest in or exposure to LLMs, prompt engineering, or healthcare applications
- Experience with data analysis and visualization tools
- Basic knowledge of software development practices (version control, documentation)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
