The Clinical Support Application Analyst - PathNet plays a crucial role in supporting and optimizing electronic health record systems, ensuring effective implementation and training while collaborating with clinical teams and IT departments.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the development, maintenance and support of Cerner and other clinical systems for the area of responsibility
- Provides input and guidance to build and design teams regarding build, optimization, training plans, goals, and implementation within their defined area
- Coordinates discussions with hospital department leaders, end users and IT Teams providing expertise on workflows of the clinical applications
- Establishes plans for supporting super-user groups
- Supports and leads evaluations of IT updates and revisions; establishes priorities and plans for release schedules
- Ensures that maintenance releases are properly tested and quality assured prior to production
- Supports and leads incident management processes and escalates issues as appropriate
- Provides mentoring and training to application analysts I in system analysis & design, specification development and documentation, and end-user training with ULH prescribed methodologies
- Completes assigned tasks per defined project scope, timelines, and budgets for implementations; works to prescribed methodologies for all project implementations
- May work on multiple implementations at any given time
- Provides Level 1, 2 and 3 support for day-to-day production issues maintaining documentation in the appropriate tracking systems while adhering to prescribed escalation & change control procedure; performs Tier 1, 2 and 3 Application/Systems support
- Works closely with the Director of Clinical Applications, Clinical Leadership and other stakeholder teams to design, implement and support the goals and objectives of the organization set by the leadership
- Uses clinical background and EHR experience to benefit the build, support and optimization of the EHR application assigned
- Ensures consistent use of clinical information technology and the adoption of care team workflow changes enabled by Cerner
- Acts as a liaison between technical staff and business subject matter experts in creating and refining business requirements
- Proactively communicate and collaborate with internal and external customers to analyze information needs and functional requirements and delivery
- Works closely with Applications Analysts, departments and technical teams to create and maintain appropriate application and workflow documentation
- Maintains relationship with vendors of hospital applications to understand current and future features and functionality and product life cycle
- Adheres to all Security Standards as set forth by the organization and National guidelines
- Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
- Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
- Performs other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Information Science, Computer Science, Informatics or related field
- Excellent, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience using Cerner modules
- Strong working knowledge of clinical processes and workflows
- Able to coach and explain Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework and concepts, concepts of application design, evaluation and testing and system analysis & design to others
- Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
- Ability to break down problems or tasks; scanning one's own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events
- Proficient in a variety of software applications and systems, including web-based services
- Expert-level skills in Cerner
- Basic understanding of ITIL framework
- Knowledge of the concepts of application design, evaluation and testing
- Seven years of prior Cerner Clinical applications experience or other EHR implementation and/or support experience
- Experience with healthcare IT applications and knowledge of healthcare environment and system configuration
- Certification on any of the following Cerner modules: CCL, ESH, Cerner Rules, PathNet, RadNet, Powerchart, Pharmnet, Powerplans, Orders, Powerforms
