Remote Chief Development Officer, Non-profit Sector

Our client, a highly impactful non-profit organization, is seeking a visionary and results-oriented Chief Development Officer to lead its fundraising and donor relations efforts. This is a critical senior leadership position that will be fully remote, allowing for broad reach and flexibility in managing development strategies nationwide. The Chief Development Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive development plan to secure the financial resources necessary to advance the organization's mission. This includes overseeing all fundraising activities, including individual giving, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, foundation grants, and planned giving. You will cultivate and steward relationships with donors, board members, and key stakeholders, ensuring consistent engagement and support. The ideal candidate possesses extensive experience in non-profit fundraising, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of donor motivations and philanthropic trends. A proven track record of successfully leading development teams and exceeding fundraising goals is essential. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement strategic fundraising plans to meet annual and long-term financial goals. Oversee all aspects of the development department, including major gifts, annual fund, grants, corporate relations, and planned giving. Cultivate and manage relationships with major donors, foundations, and corporate partners. Develop compelling proposals and presentations for potential funders. Steward existing donor relationships to ensure continued engagement and support. Collaborate with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on fundraising initiatives. Lead, mentor, and manage the development team, fostering a high-performance culture. Stay abreast of philanthropic trends and best practices in non-profit fundraising. Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns. Develop and manage the development budget. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of fundraising progress and financial metrics. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Philanthropy, Marketing, or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in non-profit development and fundraising, with a significant portion in a leadership capacity (e.g., CDO, VP of Development). Demonstrated success in securing major gifts, grants, and corporate sponsorships. Proven experience in cultivating and managing donor relationships. Strong leadership, team management, and motivational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. In-depth knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and ethical standards. Experience with donor database management systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge, Salesforce). Strategic thinking and ability to develop innovative fundraising strategies. Passion for the organization's mission.
