Job Description:
• This is a Coder III–level position responsible for researching, reviewing, interpreting, and processing Interventional Radiology (IR), Vascular, and Neurosurgery coding and billing charges.
• Support all coding functions for the IR, Vascular, and Neurosurgery departments and communicate regularly via email and messaging with clinic staff to ensure compliant, accurate, and appropriate coding practices.
• Perform charge capture, apply diagnoses and modifiers and demonstrate understanding of NCCI edits or other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain coding knowledge and billing regulations associated with CPT and ICD-10 codes, and modifiers.
• Consult with Coding Managers on any edit discrepancies.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Complete assigned work functions utilizing appropriate resources.
• Participate in client and staff meetings, trainings, and conference calls as requested and/or required.
• Participate in continuing education activities to enhance knowledge, skills, and maintain current credentials.
• Maintain a 95% coding accuracy rate and client's productivity standards.
Requirements:
• 5+ years professional coding experience in a large academic medical setting is required.
• Experience in coding professional Interventional Radiology services is required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and pathophysiology.
• Active AAPC (American Academy of Professional Coders) CIRCC, COC, CPC or Active AHIMA (American Health Information Management Association) CCS at the time of hire.
• Extreme attention to detail with the ability to prioritize assignments to meet deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of EPIC, Microsoft Office and TEAMS.
• Must display excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills with all levels of internal and external customers.
• Proficient in teaching facility guidelines.
