**Job Summary**
As a Principal Applied Scientist, you'll lead the development of our large language model foundations and agentic AI solutions for customer service automation. You'll work closely with our AGI and Bedrock teams to leverage and optimize LLM infrastructure, driving innovation and excellence in customer service automation. Your expertise will shape the future of customer experience, and you'll have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.
**Key Responsibilities**
• **Lead the development of CS large language model foundations**: Focus on model performance, latency optimization, and scalability to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
• **Design and implement agentic AI architectures**: Seamlessly integrate automated chatbots with Associate tooling to create a seamless customer experience.
• **Drive optimization strategies**: Implement model quantization, parallelization, and caching to balance performance and latency.
• **Architect multi-lingual, multi-channel solutions**: Span chat, email, and other text-based interfaces to deliver a consistent customer experience.
• **Partner with AGI and Bedrock teams**: Effectively leverage and optimize LLM infrastructure to drive innovation and excellence.
• **Guide technical strategy**: Transform both customer experience and Associate operations through generative AI.
**About the Team**
Our Customer Engagement Service team supports core customer segments, including Stores, Digital, Devices, Video, Music, Amazon Business, and delivery operations. As a technical leader for conversational AI, you'll shape innovations in customer service automation with visibility at the S-Team level.
**Basic Qualifications**
• **Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field**: Proven expertise in natural language processing and machine learning.
• **10+ years of experience in natural language processing and machine learning**: Strong background in model performance optimization and distributed systems.
• **Proven expertise in LLM optimization and inference techniques**: Experience building production-scale chatbot or conversational AI systems.
• **Excellent communication and collaboration skills**: Track record of leading complex technical initiatives.
**Preferred Qualifications**
• **Ph.D. in related field**: Experience with model quantization, parallelization, and caching techniques.
• **Background in agentic AI or autonomous systems**: Expertise in multi-lingual NLP systems.
• **Experience with enterprise-scale LLM deployments**: Proven ability to lead complex technical initiatives.

**Compensation, Perks, and Benefits**
arenaflex offers a competitive compensation package, including:
• **Base pay**: Ranges from $179,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $309,400/year in our highest geographic market.
• **Equity**: Dependent on the position offered, equity may be provided as part of a total compensation package.
