Power BI Analyst / Manager: in support of California Behavioral Health Remote, West Coast US | $100,000–$137,500 p.a. The Healthy Brains Global Initiative (HBGI) is a registered non-profit that builds and transforms high-performing mental health services and systems that maximize outcomes for individuals. Data is central to our mission, and we’re looking for an Analyst with strong Power BI skills to join our California team. The ideal candidate brings experience working with operational data - n behavioral health or similar sectors, enjoys collaborating and problem-solving in a close-knit team, and is confident in building Power BI dashboards and training colleagues how to use them. You will have a genuine interest in the mission of HBGI and the sectors where we work. This role will be supporting HBGI’s Performance Management projects. These involve equipping teams delivering behavioral health services to better understand their operational performance data (with a particular view on the outcomes they are delivering for individuals in enrolled in their services), understand the drivers of performance and ultimately make decisions to strengthen it. This role will play a critical role in connecting data, developing intuitive dashboards that facilitate decision-making, and supporting team capacity in maximizing their use. Core Functions: • Assist with the preparation of monthly performance reports/packs for monthly program reviews in Excel or Power BI, creating interactive, visually attractive and easy-to-understand dashboards, visualizations, and reports tailored to stakeholder needs. • Optimize Power BI models for performance, scalability, and communication across levels of leadership. • Develop easy-to-use interfaces for non-technical staff to manage and analyze data. • Provide one-on-one and group training for service provider and county partners and the internal HBGI team on how to use databases, dashboards, and reporting tools. • Develop user guides, standard operating procedures, and technical documentation. • Offer troubleshooting and ongoing technical support for data systems. • Proactively identify opportunities to optimize the use of Power BI and the automation of the performance tools and bring these to the project team. • Create dynamic reporting mechanisms using Power Query and VBA when needed. • Create learning materials and organizing convenings to share and embed learnings, with the goal that performance management is truly embedded for the future. Skills and Experience: Essential skills and experience: • Intermediate to advanced Power BI proficiency including but not limited to dashboard creation and maintenance, scalable data modeling, custom DAX measures, Deneb Charts, RLS • Advanced Excel skills including Power Query and data transformation • Experience creating ETL pipelines • Experience with data cleaning, transforming raw operational data into performance intelligence • Experience conducting quality assurance checks and troubleshooting data issues, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and usability of reporting tools. • Experience applying all this in behavioral health or a related sector. • Exceptional interpersonal skills, able to build respectful relationships across internal and external stakeholders, facilitate meaningful discussion, and excite people with your work. • Ability to communicate data findings clearly to non-technical audiences verbally and via data visualization • Detail oriented, proactive, and team-focused mindset Desirable skills and experience: • Experience using SQL for data extraction and transformation • Experience using Python or Power Automate for workflow automation • Experience with EHR or claims data systems (Epic, Cerner, SmartCare) • Experience training or coaching non-technical staff on data tools and an ability to develop user guides and SOPs • Experience presenting data insights to leadership or executive stakeholders • Experience transitioning partners from manual reporting to automated BI systems • Track record of capacity building and helping teams become self-sufficient with data • Familiarity with HIPAA and compliance-sensitive data environments • Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization • Experience with Lean/Agile/six-sigma project management methodologies HBGI's Culture We don’t expect you to be the finished article. You must have the right to live and work in the US. Salary and benefits: $100,000 –$137,500 p.a. (role dependent) We will pay for health insurance and contribute up to a 10% pension match. Work life: As a largely virtual business, you will need to organize your own technology, including laptop, internet and telephone. We keep Fridays free of internal meetings. Our full-time working week is 40 hours. You can plan these to suit you (Monday-Friday) but must take business needs into account. The full-time paid, annual vacation allowance is 33 days, inclusive of all state/national holidays. These roles could be suitable for someone wanting to work part-time at 80% or full-time.
