As a Customer Service Agent, you will be the face of the company, interacting with customers at various touchpoints, including the ticket counter, baggage service office, and gate area. Key Responsibilities • Provide friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers, maintaining positive relationships and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere. • Work collaboratively as part of a team to ensure the success of the organization, handling multiple tasks and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. • Deliver exceptional customer service to individuals seeking to travel, ship freight, or use baggage services, addressing their needs and resolving issues promptly. • Operate a computerized retail location system, handling tasks such as tagging, check-in, baggage handling, reservations, and resolving related objections and issues. • Greet and assist customers in a courteous and friendly manner, handling cash, checks, credit cards, travel vouchers, and coupons as forms of payment. • Manage cash handling, calculating charges, making change, and balancing daily transactions, with accountability for any overages or shortages. • Check in baggage and freight, answer phone calls to provide information to guests, page customers, resolve issues or complaints, and assist as needed. • Handle transactions required to load the aircraft in a timely and efficient manner, managing upset customers due to over-sales, delayed or canceled flights, lost, delayed, or damaged baggage. • Provide current and accurate fare, schedule, reservations, flight arrival/departure information, and answer general inquiries from customers and other airport guests. • Complete forms and reports as required by the organization, writing anomaly and complaint reports as necessary. • Perform other work-related tasks as directed by management, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities. Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed as a Customer Service Agent at Southwest Airlines, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills: • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. • The ability to type and use a computer keyboard with adequate speed to meet the demands of the job. • Strong reading comprehension skills, with the ability to follow instructions, learn, and understand ticketing procedures, rules, and regulations. • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to work with others as part of a team, meet the public, and work under stressful circumstances. • The ability to complete the Customer Service Agent training program with an 80% or higher average and successfully pass the assessment period. • Awareness of hazardous situations and the ability to handle emergencies as they arise. • The ability to work under tight time constraints to achieve quick turns of aircraft. • A well-groomed appearance, adhering to the Ground Operations Employee Handbook and Work Agreement. • The ability to perform all job functions within a confined space. • Strong verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information and instructions verbally, in person, and over public address systems. • Excellent written and oral communication skills. • The ability to communicate information and instructions verbally or through radio equipment. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: • Previous customer service experience in a fast-paced environment. • Familiarity with airline operations and procedures. • Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
