Join a pioneering effort to advance AI systems for scientific reasoning in the field of chemistry. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of models that reason about organic synthesis, mechanism, catalysis, and more, at the level of a working researcher. Your expertise will help shape the future of AI in scientific applications.
Key Responsibilities Author and review complex chemistry problems for training and evaluating advanced AI models. Evaluate model outputs across various tasks, including retrosynthesis, mechanism prediction, and computational chemistry. Identify areas where current models underperform, particularly mistakes that a seasoned PhD chemist would recognize. Collaborate with a dedicated program team and other senior contributors. Qualifications
We are looking for accomplished researchers with a strong academic background, including:
First-author or co-first-author publications in prestigious journals such as JACS, Nature Chemistry, Science, and others. Doctoral or postdoctoral training from a top-20 global institution in chemistry or STEM fields. Competitive fellowships (e.g., NSF GRFP, Hertz, Sloan Research Fellow) or equivalent recognitions. Issued patents, involvement in spin-out companies, or grants where you were a named PI or co-PI. International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) Gold/Silver/Bronze medalist. Current or recent active research role as a PhD candidate, postdoc, instructor, faculty, principal scientist, or industry researcher.
Outstanding senior PhD students and recent graduates with strong publication records are encouraged to apply. Depth of research output is valued over years of experience.
Work Terms Part-time commitment of 8 to 20 hours per week. W-2 employment with Cincinnatus LLC, which manages payroll, benefits, and compliance. No fixed end date; contributors will continue as long as their expertise is needed. Compensation
Compensation will reflect research seniority and credentials, ranging from $125 to $225 per hour.
