Position: Computational CAD Engineer (OpenSCAD)
Type: Hourly contract
Compensation: $40 - $120/hour
Location: Remote
Commitment: 10 40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
• Develop, document, and optimize OpenSCAD scripts for parametric CAD models.
• Convert conceptual designs into detailed 2D and 3D programmatic models.
• Apply Boolean operations, transformations, and advanced modeling techniques.
• Utilize features such as list comprehensions, flow control, and type test functions.
• Construct complex geometries using extrusion and composition methods.
• Create reusable and modular components using loops and structured logic.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to explain design logic and modeling decisions.
Requirements
• Strong experience with OpenSCAD and parametric CAD scripting.
• Proficiency in OpenSCAD syntax, constants, operators, and special variables.
• Expertise in 2D and 3D object creation, transformations, and Boolean operations.
• Experience with lists, list comprehensions, flow control, and type testing functions.
• Ability to translate concepts into accurate and optimized CAD models.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical explanations.
• Ability to work independently and iterate on designs with attention to detail.
