Online Learning and Instruction Librarian

Online Learning & Instruction Librarian Full‑time Assistant Librarian rank at Texas A&M International University (TAMIU). This non‑tenure track professional faculty position has an initial appointment of three years, renewable for up to five years depending on performance. Primary Duties • Design, develop, curate, revise, and deliver effective online instructional plans and resources that incorporate accessibility guidelines, pedagogical best practices, and library & higher‑education standards. • Raise awareness and promote increased use of library services among online, hybrid, and remote students and faculty. • Collect and analyze data to assess the quality and impact of online instruction services. • Teach and host workshops in face‑to‑face and online modalities as part of the library’s instructional program, guided by professional library standards and information‑literacy frameworks. • Promote library instruction and the use of collections through outreach to students and faculty, especially for online and hybrid courses. • Collaborate with others and independently produce and maintain instructional materials such as online tutorials, reference guides, and self‑paced modules in Springshare Lib Guides, Blackboard Ultra, and other platforms. • Assist faculty in locating open educational resources (OER) to complement library materials used in teaching. • Partner with university faculty, staff, and students to integrate information literacy and library collections through online guides, video tutorials, and self‑paced modules. • Conduct research consultations both online and face‑to‑face. • Serve as liaison to the Graduate School, eLearning, and other academic and nonacademic departments across campus. • Maintain knowledge of evolving trends and best practices in online learning design and delivery, engaging in continuous professional development. • Act as liaison to assigned academic departments for research and instruction support. • Participate in special projects and serve on departmental, university, and professional committees. • Other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications • Earned Master’s degree in Library Science or an equivalent ALA‑accredited program (candidates nearing completion will be considered once the master’s degree is obtained). • Demonstrated experience or familiarity with multimedia learning object creation (video, audio, visual). • Demonstrated potential for advancement in rank. Preferred Qualifications • Experience designing and administering information‑literacy instruction using best pedagogical approaches, both in‑person and virtually. • Familiarity with current and emerging trends in online and asynchronous instruction in librarianship. • Experience with learning‑management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc.). • Experience locating, using, adapting, and/or creating OER. • Strong desire to serve first‑generation students. • One‑to‑two years of related experience.
