About the position
Logan Simpson is seeking a Mid- or Senior-Level Wildlife Biologist to join their multidisciplinary consulting firm. This role involves contributing to a diverse, collaborative, and innovative team, with opportunities to expand skillsets and bring new ideas. The position offers a hybrid remote schedule, based out of their downtown Tempe office, and is available as regular full- or part-time.
Responsibilities
• Serves as lead technical biologist and avian surveys on complex projects.
• Conducts field surveys for threatened, endangered, sensitive species, plant, and wildlife species.
• Prepare biological documents, including but not limited to survey reports, Biological Assessments, and Biological Evaluations.
• Serves as project manager.
• Implements business development and marketing strategies.
• Prepares proposals and complex reports.
• Manages project budgets and schedules.
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Biology, Ecology, Environmental Studies, or closely-related field.
• 5-10+ years of relevant consulting or agency experience.
• Proven experience and technical expertise working in environmental compliance related to environmental resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations, especially the Endangered Species Act, Migratory Bird Treaty Act, Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act, Clean Water Act, and the National Environmental Policy Act.
• Be able to work cooperatively in a team-oriented setting.
• Capability and willingness to travel to project areas throughout Arizona, Utah, and Nevada.
• Strong orienteering and data collection skills (such as map, GPS, and compass).
• Must be able to occasionally work outdoors in extreme temperatures on steep, rocky, and/or uneven terrain.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
• Ability to work in the office 3 days per week on average, as applicable.
Nice-to-haves
• Knowledge of local and regional biological and wildlife habitat planning regulations.
• Proficient with identifying raptors, birds and other wildlife species.
• Interest in cross training or experience with different disciplines, such as environmental planning, travel management, GIS, or compliance with the Clean Water Act.
