Mechanical Engineer - Mission Critical (Data Centers)A leading engineering consultancy is looking to add a mid-level Mechanical Engineer to its growing Mission Critical team, supporting large-scale hyperscale data center and high-performance infrastructure projects. This role sits within a specialized, design-focused group, offering the agility of a smaller team with the backing of a global engineering platform.This is a strong opportunity for a technically driven engineer (4-8 years) looking to deepen their design expertise while gaining exposure to complex, high-impact projects and increasing client interaction.What You'll Be DoingSupport the design and delivery of mechanical systems for hyperscale data centers and mission critical facilitiesWork across the full project lifecycle, from concept through constructionPerform and support:Cooling load calculations and system sizingHVAC system design (air- and liquid-cooled systems)Equipment selection (CRAH/CRAC, chillers, cooling towers, pumps)Develop design deliverables (layouts, schematics, construction documents) using RevitAssist in developing mechanical system layouts, piping diagrams, and airflow strategiesSupport preparation of technical specifications and design documentationParticipate in pre-construction efforts, including site assessments and existing conditions analysisSupport construction administration:Submittals and shop drawing reviewsRFIsPunch list and project closeoutCoordinate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, architectural)Interface with clients and stakeholders on technical aspects of designDesign systems aligned with high-reliability, high-density environments, including redundancy strategies and thermal management requirementsWhat They're Looking For4-8 years of mechanical engineering experienceExperience in data centers, mission critical, or complex HVAC systems preferredStrong understanding of:HVAC and cooling systems designHeat transfer, airflow management, and thermal performanceFamiliarity with applicable building/mechanical codes and standardsProficiency in Revit (AutoCAD a plus)EIT required; PE (or on track) preferredKey TraitsUnderstanding of data center cooling strategies and redundancy conceptsAbility to work independently while contributing to team deliveryStrong communication skills - comfortable engaging with clients and internal teamsDetail-oriented, organized, and effective in a deadline-driven environmentCompensation & BenefitsBase: $120K - $180KPerformance-based bonusFull benefits packageExposure to cutting-edge hyperscale and AI-driven data center projectsWhy JoinWork within a top-tier global engineering platform with strong mission critical expertiseContribute to high-profile hyperscale projects across the U.S.Gain exposure to major clients and technically complex environmentsClear path toward technical leadership and client-facing responsibilities
