Marketing & Communications Assistant

Position Overview:  Dakota Woodlands is seeking a motivated and creative Marketing & Communications Assistant to support the organization’s outreach, storytelling, and engagement efforts. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing, communications, and community impact.    The assistant will assist with a variety of projects that elevate the organization’s visibility, strengthen donor and community engagement, and communicate the impact of our work. Key Responsibilities:      Assist with social media management, including creating and scheduling posts  Support development and distribution of email communications (e.g., newsletters, announcements, campaigns)  Help design marketing materials, including flyers, brochures, and digital graphics  Update and maintain content on the Dakota Woodlands website  Assist in creating presentations for community outreach, donors, and stakeholders  Support storytelling efforts by helping draft and share client success stories (while maintaining confidentiality and dignity)  Help prepare and distribute quarterly newsletters (digital and print)  Assist with assembling mailings and outreach materials  Provide general support for marketing campaigns, events, and communications projects  Perform other related tasks as needed to support the mission  Qualifications:  Current student or recent graduate in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Nonprofit Management, or related field  Strong written and verbal communication skills  Basic design skills (Canva, Adobe, or similar tools preferred)  Familiarity with social media platforms (LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram)  Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills  Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines  Passion for nonprofit work and a heart for serving families in need  Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism    Learning Opportunities  This role provides hands-on experience in:  Nonprofit marketing and communications strategy  Content creation and storytelling for impact  Community engagement and donor communications  Brand development within a mission-driven organization  Real-world experience supporting a growing nonprofit    Bonus: Possible Internship Opportunity Dakota Woodlands is happy to work with colleges/universities to provide academic credit    How to Apply  Please submit your resume and a brief letter of interest.  (Optional) Portfolio or samples of relevant work    Join Us  This is an opportunity to use your skills to make a meaningful impact.
