I'm the owner of a law firm looking for an experienced brand strategist and copywriter to help reposition my firm and rewrite my website from the ground up, with the potential for an ongoing content relationship after launch.
Phase 1 — Brand Strategy & Messaging (fixed scope)
Audience research, competitive positioning, brand voice, and a messaging framework I can use across the site, intake materials, and marketing. Deliverable is a written strategy document plus core messaging (value prop, positioning statement, key messages by practice area / audience segment).
Phase 2 — Website Copy + Ongoing Content (contingent on Phase 1)
Full website rewrite (home, about, practice area pages, contact), then ongoing blog and SEO content on a monthly retainer or per-piece basis.
What I'm looking for:
Direct experience writing for law firms or other professional services where trust and credibility matter more than clever copy
Genuine brand strategy experience — not just "I write good headlines," but the ability to do positioning work and articulate why a firm is different
A portfolio with at least 2–3 examples of website copy you've written end-to-end (links to live sites preferred)
Comfort with the regulatory/ethical constraints of legal marketing (no outcome promises, jurisdiction-appropriate disclaimers, etc.)
Strong written communication — I'll be evaluating your proposal as a writing sample
To apply, please include:
Two examples of law firm or professional services websites you've written, with a sentence on what the strategic challenge was
Your typical process for a brand strategy engagement
Your rate structure (hourly, fixed for Phase 1, or both)
